No, Dean has not yet shown signs of attracting much more than the anti-war left, angry outsider vote and northeast liberals. You smply cannot put much impotance on New Hampshire except as it relates to Kerry.

The moderates are who decides elections and as good as Dean is in attracting liberals, he will have ongoing trouble making centrists trust him with the nomination. Also, remember that Clark entered the race to block Dean, not help him. Dean-Clark would only emerge if they run #1 and #2 with more than 50% and agree to team up. That would only happen IMHO if Gore refuses to step in. But why would be refuse? The nomination would be a gift. Gore would also likely get the AFL-CIO endorsement right away.

Gore's stature is so much higher than Dean's that Gore would immediately unite the party around him if he were step into a divided race. Plus he's really a sentimental favorite. Gore can also harness the angry voter versus Bush. After all, who has more reason to be angry than Gore himself? He was cheated in 2000, but has been a very good sport about it and shown class.
