The U.S. Labor Department said non-farm payrolls rose by 57,000, vs. expectations of payroll growth of 140,000. The unemployment rate dipped to 5.9 percent, a bit better than the expected 6 percent.

I have never heard an utterance of a number over 200K on tv or otherwise but perhaps I'm wrong. Do you suppose the big strike in CA may have queered this number downward also?

The real issue is that even the 50K the created jobs are low pay service jobs, and professional white collar are still walking out the door. Time for some leadership on this issue

Though overshadowed by the jobs data, the Commerce Department said factory orders rose a faster-than-expected 2.2 percent in October, providing further evidence of a turnaround in the manufacturing sector.

You might have to get used to the idea that the economy is improving.
