I may sound callous here, but in a war, historically how many have regarded attacking/engaging (or not attacking) on a holy day. If you have really decided to go into a war, why go through the niceties of holy days? I think modern warfare is quite different than ancient warfare, where the war would end at sunset and resume at sunrise.
