What element of surprise.?...everyone in the world knew we massng troops for an invasion for more than 6 months and it was clear from the Bushies from the time he took office that he planned to attack Iraq. So Saddam had all the time in the world to do what he wanted. If fall was not good, how about winter? No, there was no imminent threat and it was, IMO, precisely that that caused our major allies and the UN to reject our urgent pleas to help us invade. That plus the arrogance of the Bushies... BTW, did we have a cease-fire in Afghanistan during Ramadan??
