Hello Maurice, I viewed the apartment and it is great, measuring 1,680 sqft, two bedrooms two bathrooms, plus a study, all sharing the same ocean view as the living area. Ocean colours dominate the entirety of the interior. Immediately downstairs are boutique eateries and funky bars. The rental yield is 7.2%, enabling a positive carry on the 3.00% mortgage rate, until the mortgage rate blows up with USD interest rate.
I had my quiet lunch at the beach kiosk, and did my swim in the cold ocean. The water was actually not that cold, say 22 degrees on the C scale.
Now, nap time, followed by party organized by wife for the Women in Media Club, and then dinner with friends.
<<water level>> … yes, the experience is invigorating, and I believe ultimately good for Hong Kong, else the folks here would continue to believe in their supposedly innate superiority that in fact is simply a result of a historical accident. The comedown has been entertaining.
20 years ago when Hong Kong folks visited Shanghai, the taxi driver would say, ‘how much income do you Hong Konger make in a year?’
15 years ago, ‘have you formed your Shanghai joint venture yet?’
10 years ago, ‘have you bought your Shanghai land yet?’
Today, ‘have you got a Shanghai job yet?’
5 years from now, ‘how much can I buy a Hong Kong apartment for?’
10 years from now, ‘I will make sure to call you up when I visit Hong Kong, so you can give me a ride from the airport.’
20 years from now, 'I can hire you as my driver, and I will provide food and lodging'.
