Absorption by assimilation, and vice versa. No need for force, subjugation, occupation, destruction, etc, etc, as they all eventually failed. Sharing progress and wealth to whoever wanting to participate, but no free lunch. Consider also the size of the consumers and the pool of homegrown brainpower and entrepreneurs, and the relatively young society with vigorous dynamics hungry for financial success. Not much retirement free meal either so they have to save for their golden years.
