If you're a US citizen and were to sell a mining stock and receive a profit of,
let's say, $1,000 then you owe Uncle
income tax, at either short or long term rate.

Now, let's assume the entire $1,000 was created because
of the drop in value of the US dollar and escalation in
price of gold. In effect, you haven't really gained
anything. It's a wash.

Yet you owe taxes on $1,000.

Sheesh !
