I currently own 3000 shares of National City Bank, (NCC) and have owned them for years and years...so my basis is very low compared to today's $34 price. From a tax perspetive, I cannot have the stock called.

But with the new 15% capital gains rate on stock held over 1 year the consequences of having a stock called away are not as bad as they were last year. Hence you need to ask yourself if National City Bank is called away can I find an investment than has better growth potential than National City Bank.
