Hi Mephisto,

Re: Mike Ford told us what to do. I could also attend a caucus training workshop, but I don't think it is necessary

It may not be "required" but it might be a good idea. If I were in your shoes, I might contact whoever it is that is running the workshop to see what they will be covering. If it is just a rah-rah session, then by all means, skip it. But if, OTOH, they intend to discuss how to counter DLC skullduggery, then I would strongly encourage you to attend. The problem with the progressive wing of the Democratic party is not that it is idealistic, it is that it is naive. Organizational skills aren't something that can be handled like a cocktail party. I'm running into a problem with this here in town on trying to impose some "cat herding" techniques on the fellow who is the point-man on the main MoveOn.org film showing here in town tomorrow evening. He's resistant to the notion that any sort of post-film discussion ought to be organized. I was floored when I heard his blase approach to a serious educational opportunity for the commmunity. I was floored and disappointed that he seemed regimented toward a low attention-span approach to serious business. Oh well, maybe it is a generational thing. We never worried about Attention Deficit Disorder where I came from. The nuns just told the rowdies to shut up and pay attention, or else. I guess life is different now.

Re: The local Democrats here have a computerized system that they can use to track voters.

If it is anything like the system here, you will find that about 30% of the names on the list are not useful because people have moved, vanished, are never reachable by phone, etc., etc. I was blown away by how inaccurate even up-to-date voters lists turned out to be. We live in extremely mobile times.

Re: I am suppose to call people, but I am not sure what to say because we won't have a primary

Tell them to come and vote for you at the caucus. And don't forget to mention the dinner buffet... :)

Re: Also, I don't believe people will want to be bothered until Christmas is over.

Your caucus is Feb. 7th, right? I wouldn't bother to talk to people until a couple of weeks before that. Sort attention span, and all.
