Elroy, i drove by a new residential development (basically building 4 "high-end" houses on what used to be a 1-house lot) and picked up a brochure. it was a very nice color brochure, which i assumed was paid for by the builder. but on the back it says:

...This promotional item provided by [Title Company Name] was not conditioned on the agreement, understanding, or requirement of the referral of title business.

so i guess the title company paid for the brochure. why the hell would the title co pay for a brochure without such understanding? i guess if "understanding" is a pre-contract verbal agreement, then as long as no such words are exchanged, one can mentally "understand" whatever one pleases?

a propos of nothing, a lot of salespeople give clients tickets to concerts or sporting events, take them to fancy restaurants or titty bars, etc. i guess they don't have any "understanding" either?

but Walmart won't let their buyers receive even a cup of coffee from a vendor. a different view on understanding.
