Russian Stocks, Bonds May Rise as Vote Seen Strengthening Putin

Dec. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Russian stocks and bonds may rise after today's parliamentary elections that polls show President Vladimir Putin's allies will win, giving him more power to push through policies that have boosted the economy.

Russia's benchmark RTS stock index, which has risen 49 percent this year and is the world's 13th-best-performing stock index, may gain 10 percent to 15 percent after the election and 20 percent in 2004, said Gabor Sitanyi, who helps manage the equivalent of $1.8 billion emerging market European stocks at Schroder Investment Management in London. Bonds also may rise.
