I've thought for years that the Palestinians play an exceedingly poor chess game. They picked violent protest, rather than nonviolent (Gandhi, MLK style) protest; their violent protest targets civilians and often children; and as you note they have failed to pick the Road Map cherry hanging in front of them, an obvious way to pressure Israel on the next step. In recent years its clear that Palestinian strategists are Sharon's best friend.
