i felt the board could go on to be a resource for anyone looking up the share price. it had gone quiet, but could be a fine information resource for as long as that lasted.
people can learn what they want about ntop without bashing -- so i post ntop news, and also additional info about voip trends, voice over broadband issues, traditional telecom companies moving to voip -- things like that.
let people make up their own minds.
... it sat for a long time after the dotcom bust -- as have many boards. value is back in for some voip companies, and many of the surviving companies went to other business models, as did net2phone; -- cable telephony in ntop's case, and retail instead of wholesale voip. ntop has 40%+ margins with retail voip while in wholesale voip the competition is so fierce, many of the providers have margins that are 10% or less.
in addition, ntop is the only end-to-end cable telephony application service provider in its part of the cable telephony provider space. net2phone's growth focus on providing voice over broadband communication; it has 2 divisions -- retail (frequently business) voip, which is profitable; and cable telephony for broadband cable companies -- where the ntop expects hockey stick growth as tier 2 and 3 cable companies move into telephony during 2004 and 2005. they have spoken to tier 1 msos, but work with tier 2 and 3 until tier 1's move into the market. cox cable and comcast are expected to enter the market in late 2004 -- unless their strategy is revised due to competition. adelphia has already said it will provide cable telephony. ntop provides a hosted (tier 1) and franchise (tier 2) cable telephony opportunity for broadband msos. two newly announced business deals -- with with Cequel in the U.S., and the other with Liberty Media (Cablevision Puerto Rico). and the pipeline is supposed to be full of others per the ceo, and blaylock, an analyst covering ntop. |
