According to Muslims, the entire Koran was dictated by the Archangel Gabriel to the Prophet Mohammed, while 45 scribes sat by him and took everything down. It is, word for word, the literal word of Allah, without any errors in transmission. To believe otherwise is heresy of the worst kind.
Most Christian scholars are not obliged to believe that about the Bible. They believe that some of the Bible was inspired, and some actually historical documents written by people who were there, or spoke to people who were there. They believe that some is allegory, some parable, some mysticism, etc., etc., and talk about errors in translation and transcription and so forth.
There is no such tradition in Islam. Anybody who even thought about scholarly analysis of the text and the historical context isn't Muslim.
Using your example, it is accepted that the Gospels were written over time, although it is disputed exactly when. |
