Washington wants to maintain China market for US grains

(WASHINGTON) The United States will try to maintain brisk agriculture commodity sales to China despite trade tensions between the two countries, US Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman said on Thursday.

'We are going to work with China to try to maintain that market,' she said at an agriculture trade conference sponsored by the Farm Journal publication.

The future of US farm goods sales to China came into question last month after the Bush administration said it would impose import controls on some Chinese textile products.
