You wrote:"I can't believe you said that. I served my country to maintain the right to protest." The right to protest is sacred. You wrote:"That includes the right to burn the flag in protest. What you say to me gives me pain." No one should have the right to burn or desecrate the American Flag in protest. It doesn't take away from someone's right to protest. Protecting the flag shows respect for those who fought and died for our country, and it also shows respect for our great country, for which the freedom to protest is guaranteed. You wrote:"But when it is burned, it is a symbol of someone crying out. Often of some wrong doing. And that wrong doing sometimes needs to be righted." I disagree. The desecration is usually done by some misfit, who has never held a job, has never paid their way, certainly has never served in our military, and just finds glory in being obnoxious. Have you ever found someone desecrating our flag for a noble cause? You wrote:"While Bush is in the White House, the Flag is being desecrated a little bit every day." All this shows is that America has many enemies. You wrote:"Around the world we have lost standing and respect. This is not a good thing, friends." Yeh, sure. We have lost standing and respect with all of the dictators and terrorist supporting nations, and the weak kneed European nations. America has always led the way, while most of the world has always gotten into trouble because of their corruption or because of their stupidity. America has always had to bail out the rest of the world. You want to appease the tyrants of the world. America is very fortunate to have a president with conviction, courage and insight, during these very dangerous times. If the Democrats ever get power back in this country, it would be disastrous. |
