I think Al Qaeda was even more persuasive, when they started blowing up Saudi targets.

Certainly.. But as I have mentioned previously, we have to ask exactly what has prompted Al-Qaeda to escalate the confrontation with the Saudi royal family..

I personally believe that since they are likely receiving little financial aid from the Saudi, Al-Qaeda leaders have the view that their is no further benefit to maintaining "detente" with the Saudi royals. Thus, they have decided to expedite their plan and advancing to the open violence phase of their insurgency.
