Heck, why don't you bring back slavery, prohibition and McCarthyism. For that matter, why should't the US become isolationist again?

There are many things that we have done that don't require repeating because:

1. We are no longer in the 1800s or at any previous date earlier than today.

2. We learn from our mistakes and are somewhat wiser now than before. That can't be said about everyone but civilization does move forward no matter how much the right-wing extremists kick and scream.
