Truthful politics is an oxymoron irrespective of party and irrespective of nation. The US has no monopoly on lying politicians.

Although I don't disagree with much of your post, there is a danger of debating and doing so much dd that we are in danger. I believe it was a tough call. Saddam did a good job in snookering the world as to his capabilities. It backfired, largely because he was advised perhaps internally, perhaps by France and Russia, that the US was also bluffing. High stakes poker, lots of losers. Saddam was the biggest loser.

BTW - I won't argue with our leaving other despots in power. Even though the US can't and shouldn't be the world's cop, they should do a better job of getting the world involved. The recent delay in going into Liberia is not just the US's fault.
