Latest Quota Utilization Levels in China Released

The General Administration of Customs released the latest utilization levels for the period of 24 May-20 November 2003 under the second period of the safeguard measures.

According to the data released, China imported 754’000 tons of cold rolled steel sheet from Russia, which corresponds to 92.6% of the allocated quota to the country. On the other hand, imports of hot rolled sheet from Russia exceeded the quota allocated, amounting 392’912 tons. China imported 886’000 tons of the cold rolled steel sheet from Taiwan, corresponding to 82.5% of the total quota allocated to the country.

Again in the same period, imports of hot rolled steel sheet from Taiwan, Ukraine and Korea exceeded the level of 80%, amounting 86.9%, 84.7% and 85.3% of the allocated quota respectively.

The total steel products imported reached up to 8’154’109 tons, filling 75% of the total quota.
