option MMs are allowed to short sell calls or puts to you, if they don't have it in the inventory. i think they call that selling/writing options "naked."

so, under that circumstance, when you buy a call option, that doesn't necessarily mean a stockholder is bearish.

If true, then the call buyers are bullish, and the stockholders bearish
