It sounds like your issues are more economic than cultural though. Am I reading too much into your post? Because in my area, we have a lot of stay at home husbands now (I live in silicon valley and there is a lot of unemployment) and this was not an option even 15 years ago really. If the wife has a job, the husband stays home, if the husband has a job, wife stays home or maybe both work. There is absolutely no cultural stigma attached to any of this (ignoring the job loss but there isn't much wrt that either). In terms of it costing too much to raise a child and the declining middle class, thats another matter we agree on.
