Hawk, the military families are going through emotional challenges in the face of Bush continuing to keep their near and dear ones in Iraq and Afghanistan without any info on why they are there etc.

If what you say ultimately proves to be true, it will alienate those military families. They would not take kindly to Bush playing with their family lives for his personal political advantage.

People like Jim Baker and George Shultz, Cap Weinberger are very smart folks and surely they would advise Bush against this approach. You know that Shultz and Rumsfeld don't see eye to eye. So even though Rumsfeld may be tied to the hip with Cheney and form Bush's inner circle, there is Papa Bush's men who also advise Bush and their advice would be contrary to what you said.

Also, you know that some senior Republican senators such as Chuck Hagel, McCain etc. as well as Newt Gingrich who do not agree with Bush on Iraq would be infuriated if information is with held for personal political purposes. There would be calls for Congress enquiries and that is something Bush would not want.

So I disagree with what you and your friends are contemplating. Bush and his advisors would not be that stupid.
