ATLANTA & ALAMEDA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 9, 2003-- VTV Japan, Japan's Leading Videoconference System Specialist, Joins Internap, Internap Japan and Hitachi Software Engineering America to Deliver IP-based Interactive Videoconferencing Solutions
Internap(R) Network Services Corporation (Nasdaq:INAP), the leading provider of performance-based routing services over the Internet, and Hitachi Software Engineering America Ltd, a systems integrator and provider of IP-based interactive videoconferencing solutions, today announced that VTV Japan has joined with Internap, Internap Japan and Hitachi to deliver integrated IP-based videoconferencing solutions between the U.S. and Japan.
This latest agreement builds on Internap and Hitachi Software Engineering America's recently announced partnership to deliver IP videoconferencing solutions. As Japan's leading videoconference specialist, VTV Japan adds extensive integration capabilities, including installation, training and support.
"From consultation, hardware and software, to IP services and installation, together our companies can now offer best-of-breed interactive IP videoconference solutions," said Dave Abrahamson, vice president of sales and chief marketing officer at Internap. "VTV brings the videoconference expertise and Japanese market experience that complements our existing relationships with Internap Japan and Hitachi Software Engineering America."
VTV Japan offers a range of videoconference services including system design, confirmation of system performance, installation, training and maintenance support. VTV Japan also offers videoconferencing system and public videoconferencing room rental. Customers include large Japanese corporations, such as SOFTBANK and ORIX, as well as the Japanese subsidiaries of multinationals like COACH and Ericsson.
"VTV Japan will work closely with Internap and Hitachi Software Engineering America to co-market our services to our complementary customer bases both in Japan and the U.S.," said Masanori Kayano, president of VTV Japan. "The bottom line for this alliance is that customers will benefit from our combined core competencies in delivering high-performance IP videoconferencing services."
According to InStat/MDR (June 2002), IP video call revenue will increase from $946.5 million in 2003 to $2.5 billion by 2006. A number of technological factors have converged to make videoconferencing more attractive than ever. IP-based videoconferencing systems offer better performance and more reliable audio and video, at a significantly lower cost than traditional ISDN-based videoconferencing. In addition to reducing travel expenses and accelerating decision-making, IP videoconferencing promotes real-time collaboration through incorporating other presentation tools like whiteboards and Websites.
