RE: The story of Bob and Earnest....

This is no puzzle at all. "Earnest" is merely the result of some other complete human expression. IT does not in itself possess the self-expressive structure that marks us as complete and uniquely human. It is not multiplying toward greater complexity. It is literally to humanity what an ovum is to a conceptus. It is not a human-entity, but contains only part of what identifies us as human, namely, the genetic information that marks us, information that may be put on a disk.

Humans are more than mere information on a disk. They are information activated in matter, ever expressing in space-time of their own. Bob has this complete human character, from the moment of conception gathering resources to himself to enhance his expression such that one day he might join with us to further enhance his expression.

Killing "Earnest" has moral implication only inasmuch as it represents, by varying degrees, a philosophical assault against the human from which "Earnest" sprang. In most cases that moral implication will not exist at all.

Killing Bob is murder.
