I'm sure there are many good stories about American-Iraq interaction that we never hear about along with the many not-very-good interactions that we will never hear about.

After all, the Iraqis are getting paid (by the US taxpayer) many, many, many times more than they made under Saddam. We're building houses for refugees, giving materials to school children, etc. If you give enough stuff and money to people, they should be happy to see you.

The limits of compassion, however, come when the houses are deemed too small for families and there isn't enough stuff for everyone. The flowers and flags though weren't supposed to be BOUGHT by us. They were supposed to spontaneously appear simply because we toppled Saddam.
