Ann,

That's what we have here in this country. A blend of two systems - a mixed economy. If someone wants to make $50,000 a year (average) with good benefits, and have reasonably good job security, become a public school teacher in California (or a bus mechanic for the Los Angeles MTA).

Want more? You may have to go into the private sector and introduce yourself to more risk.
