Trufflette,

Two scenarios that could be relevant to todays--and future--price actions of RMBS:

1) Even though the restricted shares won't be released unless F144 are filed etc, the "unrestricted" shares--which I think MS has a lot ofbetween the firm and its elite clients--got out in a hurry, at a price level pumped up by new trade-wag publicity which appeared rather suddenlt at the horizon.

2) If MS still has 750,000 shares to be disposed of, we can be assured to some degree that there will be some upgrades or positive catalysts to ensure a favorite price environment. Frequently the company (whose insiders want out too) save some really good news to be released at the end of six-month lock-up.

A case history is CIEN whose floodgate was opened 8/7/97. The advance publicity had been horrifying--with 80 millions to come out--but the final outcome wasn't nearly as bad as I though except for the day of the exodus.

Take a look at CIEN's chart and all the brokerage upgrades 1-2 weeks preceding the lock-up expiry, and you will know what I mean.
