RAP confession: my 12 yr old daughter thought her hip/rap crapola was da bomb...so I busted out my 10 yr old copy of Snoop's "Doggystyle"...needless to say she was blown away. I pointed out to her that those are real musicians..in a groove. Yes it's laced with profanity but at least it's real music. Good shit actually...we keep it to a minimum (once I proved my point)...she was 2 when that disk was released...yikes! my main concern about that music is that it desensitizes the kids to massive profanity blurbs. I don't want them thinking that it's ok for boys to talk to them in that manner and I'm afraid that it's so common these days...etc I can still bring her around when I want to....she loves Norah, Ryan Adams, Joni Mitchell, Wilco...etc..sometimes she just needs remindin' good to talk to you OldMareDigger
