Those "little grubby people, who work work work, and have no lives" also means higher productivity and willing to take less profit, i.e. lower margins. In the US, one only needs to look at Chinatowns (LA, SF, Vancouver, Montreal, etc.) and notice how they are always run by new immigrants who work 16-20 hrs a day. More work, less margin, higher productivity. The second and third generations are forced to move their businesses to smaller pockets (residential suburbia) such as the Oakland Chinatown. That's not only Chinatowns, but also Little Italy's which are usually next to Chinatowns (at least in NY and SF). "Work work work" and "study study study" were the only mottos of Americana while it was growing up in the late 1800's and first half of 1900's. Today's fat cats Americana has forgotten what their ancestors' work habits and how they were willing to do for less.

Just another sign of how destiny is unfolding so much more rapidly.
