Biometric Enrollment and Authentication system
This custom solution uses Datacard® ID Works® Enterprise edition software, custom authentication software and the Magna™ Platinum™ Series card printer or Select™ Platinum™ Series card printer. The software allows the user to select from a list of data elements and map the data to an XML file structure. Specific data elements are selected for output files or devices. Integrated in the system is the Datacard digital image capture system with integrated flash, Identix Inc. DFR® 2080 fingerprint reader for capturing and verifying fingerprint, and an electronic signature pad for capturing digitized signatures. Using ICAO data elements or user-defined data fields, the system can be easily set up for different identity document formats with differing data elements.
Identity documents are easily formatted with user selected data elements. For example, ICAO documents require writing "Machine Readable Zone" data onto the card in OCR-B font using the ICAO 9303 specified data format. For authentication, this data is read and verified with the AiT PAX reader. The system can also load smart cards or write PDF-417 barcode data onto the card such as a digitally signed fingerprint template, facial image, and demographic data for the person being enrolled. Authenticating the cardholder is done by reading the smart card or scanning the PDF417 barcode with a Symbol Technologies barcode reader. Once the data is read, the information is displayed and the user is prompted to verify their fingerprint on the DFRÒ 2080 reader. Other features will be added in the near future to make the system compliant to the Logical Data Structure defined in the soon to be published ICAO Technical Report. These would include but not are not limited to globally interoperable biometrics, digitized images, and optional demographic/document details.
