Hi malibuca, i'm just getting into Raid and can offer very little. My experience so far was to purchase a Raid Controller card,
cgi.ebay.com, Have it installed. Had a 30gb maxtor with 1.6gb's data and purchased another identical drive. Connected together and imaged first to bare second drive. Took 4 1/2 hrs. With a little tinkering had a perfect functionally second drive. Removed it and will hook up later as RAID 1, Mirror. Pretty straightforward help onscreen. One place, help says you need identical drives, another place says will it will work with different size drives, go figure.

OT, System Commander 7,
look it up in Google,
System Commander 7 is a utility which lets you have the luxury of having more than one operating system on your hard drive; in fact if the user wishes one can have up to 32 OS on the hard drive which are FAT compatible. System Commander 7 also has Inbuilt features to partition the drive without losing the data.. I have a copy from e-bay under 7$. Loaded on second puter', tinkering with it. Seems you can have about 32 OS on one drive but reading elsewhere Microsoft will only allow 4. go figure. Now I believe System Commander will Partition drives on the fly without damage to data. I'll probably add,(time, money health permitting) three more OS in time just to tinker with. Maybe win2000/winxp and Maybe NT just to prove a point. Thinking OS's can mix fat32,ntsf, whatever. On boot up I have three choices,
1-- win98se
2-- win98se Prompt
3-- Boot from Drive a:
Highlite' whichever and hit Enter.
Anyone have experience with System Commander 7? Good/Bad?

Regards, /jw
