I think there is only one thing to like about Reagan and that was his "ushering in" of the free markets again and some of the union busting. Note that I am in support of unions now. But I can remember as a kid, this would be the 70s, literally every other week the grocery store checkers were striking, or the air traffic controllers or the garbage men, and many of them made more than my father did in a bad year (my dad was trying to be an entrepreneur and run a business). You just can't have a bloated labor establishment like that and expect any kind of inventions and consequently, Japan kicked our butt. So some of this, being Reagans doing more or less, was a good thing in my book. But then, you had all the contra stuff, yet more nasty foreign affairs deals under Reagan. So a lot to dislike, for sure.
