Wouldn't the Cognitec multi-camera suggest 3D?

I don't think so. While I'm pretty sure that 3-D would require multiple angles to build its reference image, we are now discussing not the gallery (database reference) image but the FR information to be compared to the existing database. By taking multiple photos, you inevitably add information, and therefore accuracy, to the new FR offering. This helps the algorithm along in its job, and cuts down on both false positives and false negatives. Cognitec is not using a 3D approach, and the international standards are not being written to a 3D approach. 3D technology isn't at development stage and, in any case, no one has built a real-life 3D image database. 3D is next-generation, years away, and most likely would form the technical basis for surveillance technology -- a Tampa that works.
