BBC: Storm over US contract ban widens

news.bbc.co.uk

The UN Secretary General has added his voice to criticism of Washington's decision to bar countries opposing the Iraq war from reconstruction contracts.

Kofi Annan said on Thursday that the decision was "unfortunate".

It has also drawn denunciations from rejected countries - such as France, Russia and Germany - and from the European Union's foreign affairs chief in fact the entire civilized world agrees that the fact that all the lucrative contracts are going to American Corporations who gave lavishly to the Bush election campaign is wrong.

A Bush administration Oil spokesperson countered the criticism with this comment: " None of the rest of the world supported the Bush election campaign so why should they get any of the lucrative contracts?"
