Why should religion be before the law, is it a not a law unto itself? If I believe God can walk on water or ascend to heaven on a horse why would I submit to a state sanctioning the codes of beliefs I do not agree with. If a newer better religion came along should not the state sanction it? The Romans certainly thought it wise when they were fighting a losing battle against the Christians. A suicide bomber cannot objectively interpret what he feels is right anymore than you can.
