Todays FluMist Adventure

Called my doctor - his practice group of mainly internists did not have any FluMist and were not getting any.

Used the FluMist site to locate doctors (by zipcode) that had purchased FluMist. Called 6 of them before I found one that still had FluMist (3 of 6) and would treat a non-patient (1 of 6), 3 of 6 were out of FluMist. Went in and got it. For me it was no better than getting a shot. (I am not afraid of shots since I used to get them every day to every two weeks and gave them to myself.)

Had an easier time with my children. Their pediatrician had FluMist and I took the only kid I could grab into the ped and she got her FluMist. The ped only had a few doses left and will soon be out. She didn't like either but greatly preferred it to getting a shot. We are too easy on these kids and should make them get more shots. :-)

Both doctors asked for us to call in our reaction to FluMist. Each seemed genuinely interested in how well it worked. I sensed that they are a bit uneasy with this new treatment.

Both doctors* and my internist are out of the shots and only have a few doses of FluMist left.

* The ped did say they had a few doses of the shot left that were reserved for juveniles that would be returning for the second shot in a series.
