It was invent to suit a public purpose of 3 to 4.000 years ago. It has outlived its original purpose It is an anachronism.
How could you handle a tribe of people without a ten commandments? They were killing, stealing, lying, not respecting even their own parents, taking the wives of the next guy, committing adultery.
Then this guy come out with this idea of 10 commandments that if anyone would abide to them things would be much easier for everybody.
Muslins not eating pigs it is because the place the religion was developed the pigs would eat only trash and caused lots of diseases hence no eating pork meat or having pigs around.
There was a severe lack of water. Many people got sick due to poor hygiene conditions. So religion dictated that you should wash your face feet hands and private parts before praying so that people would use precious water to clean themselves.
They, being Arabs, were always at each others' throats. And when they drunk some alcoholic concoction, their city would make Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro look like Bethesda, MA. So no alcohol was allowed.
Many men get killed. There were much more women then men and men were allowed to have more than one wife so that they could take care of more kids than if they were monogamous.
You don't need this stuff anymore. It is like the nation-state another dangerously anachronism with their passports, visas, security, defense and other things that only an American could love
