Great story.

The story of the 10th Special Forces Group needs to be written too.

less than 50 "A" Teams captured all of Northern Iraq and the western frontier. These 12 man teams raced around the desert in their modified humvees attacking, calling in air strikes, and successfully repulsing 5 Iraqui armored and Infantry Divisions of 12-15,000 men each.

This job was originally assigned to the US 4th Division, our most heavily armed and technically advanced unit. But the 4th could not get into the fight thru Turkey so the job was assigned to A Teams.

Those A Teams were so successful, the use of unconventional SF tactics is being studied at the War College now for inclusion in our conventional units.

BTW, The 10th Special Forces did not suffer a single fatality in all those battles. More than 50% of the men on those teams were eligible for retirement when the war began.

One of the most amazing stories I know is of a US SF Sergeant who drove his humvee up to an Iraqui Armored Battalion, stopped behind a little hill, crawled forward and took out three tanks in less than 5 minutes with hand held missiles.
