Thanks as usual for the informed input. My view is, as I noted, strictly from my experience with BP6/Celerons on Win2K. I had expected the 2 cpu's to let me do other things while my automated downloading app (serial downloads of small files from Yahoo) is running, but the system just isn't stable enough. Even for intensive number crunching with Excel 97/MS Access I don't see any difference in performance between my dual Celeron/533 and my single Celeron/300/450-overclock. Maybe with more up-to-date and/or more capable hardware and software I would?

But, like you say, for some things there's a noticeable advantage, like being able to do other things while you're copying a large folder to another location. Perhaps I would really miss the duals were I to upgrade to a mono unit...
