fascinating read!!!

Yes it was. I recall railing against the simplistic comparisons the neo-cons were making a year ago. There is one addition I would like to make. Societies differ in their ability to accommodate change. In the era of the emerging world culture, all societies are being subjected to forces of change at a Future Shock pace. The root cause of the US's Middle East problem, is that Arabic Islam does not accommodate to change very well. Anyone familiar with Japan in the Meiji period (1868-1912), is astonished by the facility with which the Japanese adjusted to change. To equate Arabic Islamic cultures with the experience of the Japanese in this cultural attribute, is the height of folly.
