You consider the way FDR dealt with the Great Depression
and WW2 to be "successful"?

We never really emerged from the Great Depression
during the ENTIRE DECADE of the 1930's.
Even after all of FDR's "New Deal" policies were
implemented, the country entered into a SECOND depression
in 1937-1938 that was actually a SHARPER downturn than
the FIRST depression. Unemployment was still running
about 20% well into FDR's SECOND term!

As for WW2, FDR was already president for TWO FULL TERMS
before we got involved! He didn't deal with the growing
threat of Hitler during the 1930's. He allowed our Pacific
fleet to be destroyed by ignoring advice from
the military to disperse our fleet.
