True, consumption needs to drop dramatically, even while lifestyle improves. That's the deal. If that isn't the deal, I agree, it's Seattle-->Bombay instead of Bombay-->Seattle. But only if we survive long enough to implement those decisions.

We're at a political and cultural crossroads, there's only one way it can go, even if all population growth were stopped in all countries immed. Bill Joy is a killjoy, but has a point when he warns projected technofascist killing power exceeds the likelihood of survival in a couple decades, unless things change.
