well, this is a far right wing site, so what can I say? I don't agree with much on here. But these statistics speak for themselves.

Contrary to common lore, FDR was not the "great socialist" many would have you believe. As this chart shows in a striking fashion, FDR practically eliminated social spending during the war. This enormous drop shows 1940 at 43.70% all the way down to 2.00% in 1945.

Ronald Reagan was the only other president that cut social spending to any meaningful degree. Jimmy Carter's term showed a small drop, but Jimmy Carter also trashed the military during his term.

In contrast, even though we are now in a more dangerous situation than during WW II with terrorist nations possessing nukes, George Bush is taking social spending to uncharted heights. Not shown here is global welfare (HR is domestic) and George Bush is the greatest global welfare spender in the history of mankind.
