The tax advantage is taken away, but what I meant was I sold short against my own shares--thus I wouldn't need to borrow from brokerages, nor do I need to worry about a squeeze. The latter is a very important consideration in terms of risk control. Most people interpret it very narrowly in tax terms. There is a lot more to it re. selling against box from investment strategy point of view. Ibexx
