A new ad for Sen. John Kerry (Mass.) touts the Democratic presidential candidate's work against Bush's Medicare legislation. "There's a special interest feeding frenzy going on in Washington: a $139 billion giveaway to drug companies," it begins, showing images of pill bottles. "John Kerry led in the fight against it." Discreetly omitted from the spot is the fact that Kerry missed the final vote on the legislation because he was campaigning.

In other Kerry news, ABC News's Web site reports that potential first lady Teresa Heinz Kerry would not divulge what she was planning to give the candidate for his 60th birthday. Her only hint: "It's something he wants but doesn't know he's going to get."

"The White House?" one reporter guessed.
