I am truly impressed that they actually took him alive and unhurt after melee in which his sons were killed. I could not imagine a better scenario than this for the capture of the dictator, and I truly believe the military units involved deserve all praise to be heaped upon them.

In addition to the capture, I think politically, it is quite interesting that the dictator is alive. It would seem to me that there is much to fear of what he will say if he is tried in a public manner -- and I think that the iraqis and the world will demand a public trial.

So, I must admit that taking him alive is a bold move for the major players, bush, cheney, rummy and the rest. I dunno, maybe the relationship between this regime and the U.S. will not be perceived as important. Still, there is a lot of darkness there that could come to light in a court of law. I hope we will all get to see how this plays out, and the whole event will not be sequestered off to some secret location.
