Yes, we will just have to wait and hope for a public trial. There is no precedent for that at this time, but I think that especially with the election cycle coming up that bush will be more flexible with the demands the rest of the world will want to place on this process.
Mostly, at this time, after all the talk in recent days of Rummy's assassination squads, I am pleased that the army acted in this honorable way. I know this was a regular unit and not one of the special forces, yet I would guess they would have had the option of bringing in one of these teams that have been set up to deal justice with extreme malice.
Also, bringing in Saddam unhurt and in good health, I think, will go well with the Arabs. I believe that they will want to deal with Saddam themselves, and if the administration can back away from their need to control everything, this would probably be a better way to bring him to justice. It could also be a diplomatic and political victory for bush.
