Hawk, I will respond to your earlier post later. Not with this developing story. It is good that they captured Saddam. I don't think it would be wise for Bush to hold him in custody when the Iraqis are crying for his blood. He needs to turn him over to the Iraqi council and let them try him and put him to death. Summary execution according to Muslim law. He should be executed under Muslim law, not tried in Western courts. If that happens then it leaves room for propaganda by pro-Muslim elements. And while this happens, the US should stand guard against the Fedayeen insurgents who may try to cause civil unrest.

I wouldn't give him a bath etc. Just confirm his DNA and let the Iraqi council decide. The longer they keep him alive, the more trouble there will be.

And then further down the line, the US should hand over power to the Iraqis on the stated timeline and then get get out. Then just before the elections he can truly claim victory with a exit strategy.
