Hello, Tom, My thoughts? As I'm not among the politically savvy, I don't have any clue as to the political capital garnered from this event.

I will ask my proud, former paratrooper son today, what his feelings and assessment are in knowing today that his unfinished task of over a decade ago has now been accomplished by the son of his former commander-in-chief.

It certainly has crossed my mind.

What do I feel? It is hard for a Mother to sort her emotions about a grown child who endures to this day the after affects of the deliberate poisonous injections from our own military think of the first Gulf War, in an effort to build up antibodies and some sort of immunity "pool" so to speak, just to bring to a halt over 10 years ago this madman, now seen on world TV being checked for headlice.

That's a Mother talking. The son's version is, "We all knew what we had to do and did it, including accepting the poisonous shots of the various biological agents designed for some sort of prophylatic physiological response. It was part of the job, Mom. And you know I don't like to talk about it.

My other thoughts re: the original delay...DAMNED FRENCH!!!!
HOW DARE THEY!!!

My son as other sons were under aegis of the French contingent who had their orders that morning to bring him in within the hour.

Something very FRENCH happened, 11th hour, and Saddam was given a pass.

I can't imagine what Bush was promised, but it certainly wasn't good enough to look the other parent's and families of those dying in Iraq now in the eye and intone sympathies for their very very fresh losses.

What I DO know is this: The FRENCH, German, Russian, and all the rest of the sorry lot who are brow beating emissary James Baker in Europe this morning for not getting a piece of the current re-construction pie, are showing their historical, despicable cultural colors.

Their official congratulations to Bush this morning, has a hollow ring in my ears, especially with THEIR profit/economic impact uppermost in their mind, when they didn't turn a finger to help it happen.

French duplicity, German's peculiar brand of fatalism and we're the purebloods, the entitled ones, all of this is
common knowledge among those of us have studied European recorded history.

As you have also heard me state, the housing industry and the war industry are two GUARANTEED to produce GDP type growth industries that swing elections and form economic policy in this country.

I wish the system were different, of course. Yes, the system is flawed when we chose to resort to war to bring economic stimulus to bear.

In expressing my views on wishing for a different economic policy, I simply do not know how to take my wishes to the political level and bring about change. Long ago I decided the change had to occur on a personal level for me to live with myself. Those changes I made.

In the next breath, I wish to commend all men and women, especially in this great nation, who have served before, with and after my son's stint for stepping up, willing to pay the price with their lives so that hideous and despicable murderous madmen across the ages are hunted, or killed, bringing ultimate accountability to those particular individuals.

Saddam is just another in a long line of madmen who had to be stopped, and thanks to the coalition forces, he's now been completely and utterly toppled, a force no more. I can't help but understand somewhat of how the oppressed Italians and Germans must have felt when mussolini and hitler were ultimately dealt with.

I personally am rejoicing in hearing this news this AM. And I thank, AGAIN, all the military veterans, alive and crossed over, male & female, for my personal freedom this morning, and the elimination of one more heinous madman.

God Bless America and her stalwart allies.
